Finally, I Can Exhale!

If you know me well, you’ll know that I do not function well in small spaces. Or disorganized spaces. Okay, let me back up a bit and provide context.

As a fresh business owner, I pride myself on having everything that's needed for my business. From inventory, to packaging materials, to storage items/space, etc. You get the drift? But then, you cannot account for when orders start coming in and your tiny space won’t be able to provide you with the best support you need to process your orders seamlessly. You get it now?

Let me break it down a little further. We lived in a condo, comprising a 2 bed and small den. I hate apartments with everything in me, but this particular one came with all the luxurious amenities you can think of, from indoor pool, to saunas, gyms, a big rooftop open terrace garden ,cinema, etc. You name it, this condo building had them all. But these were all located outside my apartment and did not serve my immediate needs to be sincere. I couldn’t care any less about any of those things save for the rooftop terrace, which I only started frequenting just weeks shy of our moving out. And this was after nearly two years of living there.

So, I said all of that to say this, the tiny space in my apartment did not allow my business to function. At all. I couldn’t locate any inventory when I needed it. And creating content for my social media pages was a nightmare! Imagine this scenario, camera set up, and starting to pack an order to put away, and suddenly realizing that you can’t find many of the items needed to fulfill the order! From thank you cards, to tissue papers for the box lining, nothing!

And one time, I couldn’t find the tape to seal a box after packing the ordered items in it. It was just too much that I turned around, switched off the recording and walked out, lol. I guess I can laugh about it now, but back then, it was frustrating to say the least.

I had special seal stickers for Possibilities package, totally different from the regular ones for other products. But can you believe that my tiny space swallowed up this important item, that I had to pack two perfume orders without it?. Argghhh!

I know this might sound like excuses to some folks, but if we’re being sincere. and you’ve had to run a product-based business out of a tiny space housing both supplies and products and everything else in between, then you’ll understand a little better.

So now, we’ve moved to a much bigger space. And my business finally has a space dedicated to it alone. A space so big that I have enough room for storage, space for office, production space, and packaging space. Yep, it is all about space, space, and more space, for me. Plus, all things are possible if you believe, lol! I prayed hard for a space like this and I finally got it. But the best thing about all of this, I don’t have to leave my home to run my business properly.
